TabOrganiser — Help & Support

Organize your tabs. Work smarter.

TabOrganiser helps you organize Chrome tabs into workspaces using native Tab Groups, automatic domain routing, and tab archiving.

1. Open the Workspace Side Panel

Click the TabOrganiser extension icon in Chrome to open the workspace side panel.

2. Create or select a workspace

Create workspaces such as:

💼 Work

📚 Study

🎬 Entertainment

🛒 Shopping

⚙️ Personal

3. Open tabs in a workspace

Open a new tab, select your desired workspace, and enter a URL or search query. TabOrganiser will organize the resulting tab into the appropriate Chrome Tab Group.

4. Enable automatic routing

Use Remember Choice to associate a domain with a workspace.

For example:

github.com → Work

youtube.com → Entertainment

Future tabs from those domains can then be routed automatically.

5. Manage inactive tabs

Use Tab Aging to identify tabs that have not been accessed recently. You can archive inactive tabs and restore them later.

Common Questions

Does TabOrganiser collect my browsing data?

No. TabOrganiser is designed to process tab information locally in your browser. According to the current product specification, extension data is stored using chrome.storage.local and is not transmitted off-device. 

Do I need an account?

No. TabOrganiser does not require registration or an account.

Can I restore archived tabs?

Yes. Archived tabs can be restored from the Tab Aging section of the side panel.

Does TabOrganiser replace Chrome Tab Groups?

No. It works with Chrome's native Tab Groups and adds workspace organization, routing, and archiving functionality. 

Why does TabOrganiser need access to my tabs?

The tabs permission is used to read tab information needed to display and manage your workspace tabs, apply routing rules, and perform tab actions. The tabGroups permission is used to manage Chrome's native Tab Groups. 

Troubleshooting

Workspace is not opening

Refresh the current Chrome window.

Click the TabOrganiser icon again.

Check that the extension is enabled at chrome://extensions.

If the problem continues, restart Chrome.

Tabs are not being routed automatically

Check that:

The domain rule has been saved.

Remember Choice is enabled.

The domain matches the rule you created.

TabOrganiser has permission to manage your tabs.

Side panel is not visible

Open the TabOrganiser extension from Chrome's extension toolbar and try opening the workspace side panel again.
